The day everyone was eagerly looking forward to finally arrived! The compressor was brought in last week and the shotcrete work began in full swing. The workers and volunteers sweated out their days to complete the shotcreting of the first water tank near the office container. A mixture of cement, earth and aggregate was mixed in a ratio of 1:5:1 and pumped by the compressor at high pressure along with water on to the walls of the water tank. The surface was later leveled by the masons. This method is cheaper and can be done on a large scale, as it has been done for various underground tunnels and pipelines. Now that the first step is done, we will be moving over to the concreting of the first three houses and their water tanks in the coming weeks.
